The 26-year-old Israeli pianist Ido Zeev was brought to international attention after winning the 3rd prize at the Vigo International Piano Competition with Martha Argerich as president of the jury. In the same competition, he received two other prizes including the Audience Award.
In recent seasons, Ido Zeev has appeared in some of the greatest international festivals, including Allgemeine Musikgesellschaft (AMG) Basel and the Oxford Piano Festival. In 2024, he made his debut at the Martha Argerich Festival in Hamburg and at Festival International de Piano de La Roque d'Anthéron as New Generation of the Piano.
In December 2024, the pianist Martha Argerich presented him to the audience in 3 of her own concerts in Lyon (Piano à Lyon) and Toulouse (“Les Grands Interprètes” series) where he played a solo program (including his new arrangement of Ravel’s Tzigane for piano solo). In August 2025, he makes his debut at the Verbier Festival.
In a Bachtrack review of his recital at La Roque d'Anthéron Piano Festival (Aug. 2024), Alain Lompech wrote: “This is a model of Beethovenian interpretation, coming from a young 25-year-old” {on Beethoven’s sonata Op.110}. On his solo performance in “Les Grands Interprètes” series in Toulouse (Dec. 2024), Emmanuel Gaillard writes on Bachtrack: “Knighted by Argerich, Ido Zeev is an artist to keep our eyes on…as for his own piano transcription of Ravel's Tzigane, it asserts that we are dealing with a truly great pianist and transcriber of outstanding talent”.
His love for music became evident at the age of 6, when, without his parents' knowledge, he signed up for an electric keyboard course after school. At the age of 10, he started playing the piano in the class of Ms. Ganit Polin. Progressing rapidly, he soon established himself as one of the most promising young pianists in Israel, winning first prizes in the major competitions in the country. Since then he has won top prizes in various international competitions such as the Vendome Prize, the Sanremo International Piano Competition, the Vigo International Piano Competition and more.
Ido Zeev has worked with some of the world's most esteemed musicians including Nikolai Lugansky, Christoph Eschenbach, Menahem Pressler and Boris Berezovsky among others. He has been guided by Prof. Arie Vardi since 2016, by Prof. Florence Millet at HfMT Köln and Prof. Rena Shereshevskaya since 2024, at the École normale de musique de Paris-Alfred Cortot.
